Naming Conventions Best Practices

Naming conventions are essential once your firm manages more than a handful of cases.

All of our Libraries have default names for Case Types based on the form and the context for easy identification, but you can choose to change the case name manually or create Custom Case Types that better suit your Workflow.

Why naming matters

Consistent naming:

  • makes searching easier,
  • reduces confusion across teams,
  • improves visibility in the Case Management Board.
  • Use a predictable format across the firm.
  • Include meaningful identifiers.
  • Avoid inconsistent abbreviations or personal naming styles.

Prima.Law does not enforce a naming format. The value comes from firm-wide consistency.
