Client Portal
The Client Portal is a secure, client-facing space where clients can upload documents, review case progress, complete assigned tasks, and collaborate with your firm.
What the Client Portal is used for
Through the Client Portal, clients can:
- upload documents to case checklists
- download files shared by your firm
- review shared case information
- complete Smart Interviews
- view USCIS receipt updates (if added to the case)
- review shared forms (view-only or editable, as configured)
- view and pay invoices (if PrimaPay Plus is enabled)
Enabling the Client Portal for a contact
Client Portal access is enabled per contact.
- Open the Contact Page.
- Locate the Client Portal toggle near the contact’s name.
- Turn the toggle ON.
- Make sure the contact has a valid email address.
An invitation email will be sent to that email address.
Only that contact will have access to the portal.
Important: sharing cases with the client
Enabling the Client Portal alone is not enough.
If no case is shared:
- the client will be able to log in,
- but will not see any checklists, files, or case information.
To share a case:
- Open the Case Page.
- Share the case with the client via the Client Portal option.
- Repeat for each case you want the client to access.
You can share multiple cases, but it’s recommended to start with one case at a time to avoid confusion.
What clients see in the portal
For each shared case, clients can:
- view the checklist and upload required documents
- download files you’ve shared
- review USCIS receipt numbers and status updates
- access Smart Interviews shared through the portal
- review forms (editable or view-only, depending on settings)
Forms and Smart Interviews in the portal
- Smart Interviews can be shared directly through the Client Portal using the toggle in the Smart Interview tab.
- Once submitted, interviews cannot be edited further.
- Review and import the data as usual on your side.
Forms shared through the portal are best used for:
- client review
- verification of information
Smart Interviews are recommended for structured data entry.
Billing through the Client Portal
If PrimaPay Plus is enabled:
- clients can view invoices
- pay invoices and payment plans directly in the portal

Best practices
- Walk clients through the portal during onboarding.
- Explain how to upload documents using the checklist.
- Encourage portal use instead of email attachments.
- Share only what the client needs to see.
